Applications for the program are open 13 Jan, 2020, and are due by 14 February, 2020, 5:00pm (EST, USA).
What are the eligible countries and territories?
You must be a citizen and resident of Cambodia to apply.
Are musical/dance groups able to apply together?
Found Sound Cambodia Fellows must apply individually and will be selected as individuals. However, several members of the group are welcome to apply separately.
What is the selection process? When will artists be identified?
All applications will be reviewed by Found Sound Cambodia Selection Committee made up of Found Sound Nation staff and accomplished musicians/dancers. Found Sound Cambodia will notify Fellows by the end of March, 2020, and Fellows will have two weeks to confirm their participation in the program.
How many artists will be selected?
7 musicians/dancers from Cambodia.
Do I have to be a full-time professional musician or dancer to apply?
No, we encourage advanced students and highly skilled semi-professional musicians to apply. (We understand that music and dance are not always the easiest way to make a living!)
Are non-musicians/dancers who work in related fields eligible to apply?
Found Sound Cambodia is only open to musicians and dancers, although we do encourage artists to apply who also work in other fields.
Do OneBeat applicants have to play a particular genre of music?
Musicians from any genre or background are encouraged to apply. We are looking for musicians who have achieved an advanced proficiency in any style, including, but not limited to: folk music, hip hop, electronic music, traditional music, jazz, experimental, classical, sound-art installations, DJing, audio engineering, etc.
Do participants need to speak English?
No. Found Sound Cambodia will be a bilingual Khmer/English program. We will organize language-learning activities during the program for all Fellows.
What are the costs of the Found Sound Cambodia program for participants?
Found Sound Cambodia covers all costs for selected Fellows, including travel and accommodations. Fellows will also receive a per diem (which covers meals and incidental expenses) and a modest honorarium.
Can I participate in only part of the program?
No, Found Sound Cambodia Fellows must commit to participating in the entire program: June 7 - June 21.
